& Podiatry cope with the new attitudes and priorities of decontamination for good infection control.

As Care Quality Commission goes live this 'back room' work assumes a higher
priority to keep the Local Decontamination Unit equipment in tip top order and continuously operational. This also includes the statutory requirement to regularly have sterilisers temperature validated.
This is in the best interest of patients and staff.
Good equipment designs are important but breakdowns puncture the barrier to cross infection.
New attitudes to protect people are now being imposed across the
whole health care spectrum.
